Connecting the world
Students develop their spoken English naturally in our weekly link-ups between Palestinian classes and schools and volunteers around the world. Families also connect from home to talk about their daily lives, providing everyone with rich opportunities to celebrate their differences and rejoice in their commonalities.
Connecting Palestine
Most Palestinians are denied the basic right to travel within their own country. We help to forge strong connections between young people in different parts of Palestine though our online Facebook live and Zoom sessions, and through collaborative theatre projects. So far, we've arranged for over 100 children from Gaza to perform their plays live in theatres in Jenin, Bethlehem and Jerusalem - a once in a lifetime experience.
Connecting teachers
Team or co-teaching has long been an integral part of our work. Two teachers - one Palestinian and one in another part of the world -work together to prepare classes and then co-teach them live in online classrooms. In 2020, with Palestinian teachers effectively working under double lockdown in the midst of a global pandemic, the Hands Up Project found a new way to reach students.
