TEAM OF THE MONTH
Susan Piper
Hi I’m Sue Piper and I’ve been a HUP volunteer for 18 months. I love working with children, young people and teachers in Palestine because it makes me feel part of a big family! I look forward to seeing children’s faces every week and engaging with them by telling stories.
I am amazed by their enthusiasm, energy and willingness to learn. Enjoying stories each week can give access to different worlds, broaden horizons and promote curiosity and a love of language. My partner teacher Fawzia is a wonderfully committed teacher and I am proud to work alongside her.
Fawzia Qasem
Hi I'm Fawzia Qasem and I've been a volunteer with HUP since 2020. It is a great opportunity for me. It's like a window on the world. I got new wonderful friends from all over the world.
I could continue my duty as a teacher during the pandemic with my amazing partner Sue Piper explaining the English curriculum for the 5th graders. I could contact my students and I got many other new students. They were engaged and enthusiastically participated in the live sessions.
Sue and I delivered some stories together. It was such an amazing experience. after school opened again, I wanted to transfer this wonderful experience to my class. Luckily HUP was a great help as always and allowed this to happen. My brilliant partner Sue joins my class with her wonderful stories, chants and games that attract my students and make them engaged all the time. Their happy faces tell the they are looking for more and more.
