CONNECTING PALESTINE

Saleh from Gaza sings ‘Heal the World’ on the long journey from Bethlehem to Jenin. She’s on her way to perform “Live your life” at the Freedom Theatre. It’s her first time in the Occupied West Bank, and her first time out of the tiny piece of land (just 360km2) known as the Gaza strip.

In the summer of 2019 three plays, created by young people in Gaza were performed by their original authors live at the Palestinian National Theatre in Jerusalem alongside their new friends from Jerusalem.

After a brilliant performance at Alrowad Cultural Centre, the girls from Gaza celebrated by singing “Oh my home” under the oldest olive tree in the world. They’d seen the tree on the cover of English for Palestine grade 7 but of course it was a once in a lifetime experience to actually be standing next to its 5000 year old trunk.

Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.
