“It’s just a few days, 7 days.”

With those words Diana expressed her disbelief that, in just 7 days, countless lives have been lost, families wiped out, entire areas destroyed and a trail of devastation left behind. The scent of loss and death fills the air in Gaza today.

"We don’t know how to feel, where to go, what to do. Kids in the roads, they don't know where their families are."

5 years ago Diana was one of the children who entered the Hands Up Project’s annual online theatre competition.  With her classmates, she wrote and performed the short play "Window onto the Outside" highlighting the problems suffered by Gazans as a result of the siege imposed in 2007.  It was published in "Toothbrush and other plays" in 2018.

Today Diana spoke to us from Gaza where the optimism of the play she wrote as a 14 year-old lies brutally crushed beneath the rubble.
