Fatema's poem
This poem by Fatema Saidam (aged nine ) was included in this year’s Hands Up Project poetry collection ‘Moon tell me truth’
We have heard from Fatema’s teacher that last night, Fatema and her whole family were killed in an airstrike.
As you read Fatema’s words consider what kind of a world we live in, where the responsibility to tell us how to live falls on a nine year old girl in Gaza.
Eyes are for looking and seeing sun
Tongues are for greeting and saying fun
legs are for walking slowly and also run
hands are for shaking with friends not for shooting gun
by Fatema Saidam aged 9, Gaza, Palestine.
Rest in Peace
